Archive for March, 2007

it’s been a very, very busy week here at work although, finally, ngayon ay makakahinga na din panandali. so anong gagawin pang-release ng stress sa trabaho? eh, d gumawa ng “blog”. 😀

our blog (or photoblog) was made to touch base with friends/relatives whom we don’t get to see that often… or don’t get to see at all anymore. it’s always nice when recipients (chosen few that they are) respond to our blog/photoblog. such was the case with our last photoblog issue.

a friend who has migrated to australia replied to our photoblog with a very interesting question, “tanong ko nga pala kung anong klaseng dslr yung camera ng inyong photographer?” buti na lang alam ko isasagot sa katanungan nya. hehe. a few email exchanges later, i learned that this friend of ours is aspiring to be a photographer. bakit kaya? na-inspire ba sya sa shots ni fol? na-inspire ba sya sa photo contest entries namin? 😀 whatever the reason, gusto daw nya gawing sideline ang photography.

interestingly enough, parang ganun din plano ko. ang pagkakaiba lang… kung sya sa photography, ako naman, sa videography. i got interested in video editing late 2004. i was in-charge of our company Christmas party (yes, sideline ng pagiging inhinyero.) and we had an avp made by a freelancer videographer/photographer. pa-minsan-minsan, binibisita namin ang paggawa ng avp at nakita ko personally kung pano ginagawa ito. since mabilis naman ako maka-pickup pano gumana mga software (i learned photoshop, autocad… etc via help lang), mabilis ko din naintindihan pano gamitin ang sony vegas (a non-linear editor). kaya after nun, i got hold of a sony vegas software, installed it at kung may free time… kinakapa-kapa ko sya. soon, i got the hang of it and before i know it, instead na magpagawa ang samsung sa labas ng mga avp, eh sa akin na lang pinapagawa (for free. daya, no? :?). ok lang, got to hone my skills naman. tapos during wedding preps, i got enamored even more with this videography thing kasi ang lulupit naman kasi ng mga videos nina jason & bob. dun ko din nalaman na ang layo-layo ko pa sa kanila. 😆 anyway, if ever, i won’t go full-time naman. like our friend in australia, sideline rin lang… and if that doesn’t work, i can always design invitations. 😉

photo contest

one lazy day at the office, i chanced upon this:

from www.dinolara.com/blog (posted feb 20, 2007.  11:26 pm)

I’d like to give out something for free because I’m in a good mood today.  🙂

Just send a picture of you and partner – as simple as that. This is sort of a photo contest and I’m going to be the judge. I will not be looking for the best, as in photo-contest-caliber shot but just enough to make me smile. It maybe taken from a cellphone, P&S camera or digital camera. Please limit the size of picture to 400pixel width. You may email it at dinolara@yahoo.com and put a subject “photo contest entry” and please give me your name and contact details.

Only 1 winner for this contest. The price is not convertible to cash also. The winner will win a brand new HP Deskjet D2360 Printer.

Deadline of submission will be on March 6 12MN (Manila time). You don’t have to be my client to join but all wedding suppliers are not allowed to join.

Again, I’m looking for cute picture of you and your partner. Be as sweet as possible. But remember that I’ll be posting the winner online, if you submit revealing pictures it will be disqualified automatically. But you will receive a thank you letter from me because you satisfied my personal issues.  🙂

Please join and let’s have some fun. Yehey!!!  🙂

sino ba si dino lara?  dino lara was the first wedding photographer that impressed us with his works.  it was still very early in our wedding preps that we got to see his works thru the net and might we say that his works really do stand out from the rest… especially when it comes to layouting.  very particular kasi kami sa layouting.  but we really didn’t give him much thought back then because his price tag is way, way too high.  we’ve been admirers of his work ever since though.  🙂  fast forward sa aming wedding preps and we got to know A LOT of photographers but still no one comes close to dino’s layouting (shot-making, meron… but layouting, ala, eh)… until we met our photographer, fol.  😉

the wedding expo… a bridal fair known to be the largest, in terms of number of exhibitors, here in our country.  for soon-to-weds, this is the fair to be in as couples can scout around to know what’s the latest in the industry and which supplier fits each couple’s theme and/or budget.  generally, soon-to-weds enter the fair with nothing at hand but leave the expo with a bag full of flyers and brochures… waiting to be segregated, studied and compared to one another.  just this weekend, the first of two wedding expos were held at the picc forum showcasing a whopping 300+ suppliers… and we, not soon-to-wed but newlyweds, were there.

bakit?

because it is only at the wedding expo that 4 of our favorite suppliers will be present in one venue.

tapos?

since they’ve been very nice since the preps up til wedding day (and even after) and the services they delivered were nothing short of excellent, we decided to give each of them gifts as tokens of our appreciation.  as simple as our gifts are (hirap mag-isip ng gifts sa successful people, ha.  hehe), hopefully, our gifts would convey how thankful we are for them.  kaya sa mga kaibigan namin who are about to get married or thinking of getting married or even those who have no plans yet of getting married, take note of these suppliers… from the persons that they are to the talents that they have… we have nothing but high, high praises.  🙂

it’s been a well over a month since our wedding and in this span of time, we have realized one thing: that married life is much better than we thought it would be.  🙂  what could be better than being at home with the one you love and planning about how to make your lives a bit better each passing day?  it’s just irreplaceable.  🙂

we’re somewhat changing the format of our blog starting this issue.  we realized that we’re so fond of pictures that we’ll be incorporating more of it than words.  not that we’re tired of telling stories (ako pa?! ) but it’s much easier to maintain a “blog” this way.  (note that I used open/closed parenthesis on the word blog since this is not really a true blog.  :-D).  plus, ever since we started incorporating pictures in our past blogs, people have been wanting for more.  i guess tinatamad mag-imagine mga tao at gus2 na lang makakita ng pictures. 😀

near then far

after our wedding, we planned to spend the night still in tagaytay.  davao kasi ang honeymoon namin, eh parang kapagod naman kung magmamadali kami after wedding tapos diretso airport tapos gabi na din darating ng davao.  kaya we thought it would be best that we stayed muna in tagaytay.

if you remember in one of our early blogs, we mentioned this new bed & breakfast place in tagaytay.  the boutique ang pangalan ng place.  iIt was a little too small for wedding preps kaya d kami dun nag-stay prior to wedding pero the place does look nice.  actually, parang mas perfect nga for newlyweds (and not soon-to-weds… you’ll understand if you happen to visit the place.  ;-)).  kaya dun kami nag-stay over the night.  nice place… we’d come back when we have an opportunity.  😉

then we spent our honeymoon in pearl farm, davao.  fantastic place.  gotta love the philippines.  🙂
