competition is always a treat to witness. that is why i am an avid sports fan. but lately though, tv has been offering competition outside of sports… and, more often than not, it is entertaining at the very least.

just last week, one of our favorite tv shows ended. american idol is a show that we religiously followed every single week. with the show being aired thrice on tv every wed & thurs nights (6 & 8 pm @ star world and 10 pm @ abc 5), we never did miss a show all season (except probably the auditions… which we were not that fond of). as with any competition, we did pick our favorites… and by the end of the season, my pick & selle’s pick wound up in the finals. woohoo! πŸ˜€

blake lewis. easily the strongest male contestant among the top 12. his beat-boxing was unique and a welcome treat. during the hollywood week, his beat-boxing brought the house down during the group performances. ang galing! πŸ™‚ not only did he have that unique talent, his musicality was top-notch as he would time-and-again redo songs so that they’ll be more contemporary… and, of course, so he could incorporate his beat-boxing. πŸ˜› but his talent does not end in beat-boxing because he does have a singing voice as he would display throughout the contest… to the delight of randy, paula and simon.

jordin sparks. the young (she’s only 17) girl with the big voice. early on the season, there were 2 early favorites (lakisha & melinda) but by mid-season, jordin joined that group and those 3 were the girls to beat. all 3 had big voices. all 3 were soulful. all 3 had performances worthy of being tagged as the best of the season. but what separated jordin from the other 2? personality. she has that contagious smile and bubbly personality which we believe endeared her to all of america. nakakatuwa kasi that whatever happens, she would always be smiling after all the judges have given their comments and then she’d flash that heart-shape signal she does with her hands. πŸ™‚

the performer vs the singer. that’s how the final was hyped-up. it was great watching both giving one great performance after another. in the end though, the required original song was a ballad… not blake’s forte but jordin’s strength.

last song of the night always leaves a lasting impression. i can still remember 2 years ago when carrie underwood, under siege from bo bice’s performances, gave an emotional rendition (teary-eyed and all) of angels brought me here which basically gave her the title of american idol. jordin sparks basically did the same. she gave a fantastic performance and then, overcome by emotion, she almost didn’t finish the song. but the judges didn’t care. america didn’t care. after such a performance, she did deserve to win.

finale: this is my now by jordin sparks

sa wakas, natapos din ang pag-migrate ng aming email blogs to this online blog. migration was not easy and not entirely successful (hirap ayusin formats. πŸ˜€) but this will do. some might be looking for the early email blogs but we decided not to post it here. that’s the first 5 email blog issues documenting how we went through the process of selecting our wedding suppliers. sobra kasi ma-detalye… including horror stories on certain suppliers. πŸ˜‰

if that sounds intriguing (i bet it does. 😯)… and you really, really want to read through it, just drop us a line and we can send you a copy through email… then we can have an animated discussion after. πŸ˜›

this is our very first post.yes, you read that right. this is our very first post… in our true online blog! πŸ˜€

finally, dahil na din sa pangungulit ng mga kaibigan, we’re transforming our email blog into a true online blog. this way, you guys can just read our postings when you like it. this way, you guys can browse back to previous postings whenever you wish. this way, your comments can be read by others and the interaction would be not just between us… but amongst you guys as well. πŸ™‚

but this didn’t come easy. at first, we had to select which of the many free (syempre dapat libre. πŸ˜€) sites would host our blog. andyan ang blogger, blogspot, multiply (although this is more of photo sharing site than a blog site) at marami pang iba. a friend once suggested wordpress. we checked it out and liked it. so wordpress it is. πŸ™‚

next step was to migrate/import our previous postings. initially, we thought this would be easy. copy-paste, right? nope. hindi sya ganun ka-simple. kung purely text lang, yes, it would be that simple. kaso may images postings namin, eh. ayan tuloy… had to learn on the fly some html synthax. eventually, somewhat got the hang of it and was able to transfer our previous postings. kaso medyo buggy din ang wordpress that’s why you would notice that some emoticons remained text and not smiley faces. also, line spacing is inconsistent also. pasensya na, ha. newbie lang. πŸ˜›

thank you for visiting our blog. bookmark it if you like. πŸ˜‰

our blog ain’t completely finished yet. as stated, it’s a work-in-progress. please, do bear with our mistakes. πŸ˜›

comments will be highly appreciated. πŸ˜‰

a series of events occured lately and instead of blogging about each one at a time… we thought it would be best to just collect them all in one single photoblog.Β  πŸ™‚

snippet 1: color coordination
half a year ago, we had our prenuptial pictorial at tagaytay with fol & edong.Β  we were excited with our prenups so much so that we kinda “prepared” for it.Β  no, we didn’t bring props (though that would’ve been nice) nor did we practice poses (haha) but we did give some thoughts on what we would wear… or what color for that matter.Β

prenup photos by fol rana jr (from top to bottom): 1) wearing green & cream pants at bella vistaΒ  2) wearing white top & jeans (provides great contrast with the greens)Β  3) wearing earth/neutral long-sleeved shirts.Β  note: meron pa kaming pink & black outfit that we didn’t get to use.Β  hehe.

fast forward to last monday.Β  we took a stop at atc before going to cavite (selle’s hometown).Β  sa sobrang wala kaming time lumabas, we have been wearing very old slippers at home.Β  eh, ako nga, eh pambabae pa yung gamit ko, eh… hehehe.Β  eh since we were in atc na rin lang, naghanap kami ng tsinelas.Β  and look what we got.Β  πŸ™‚

rachael ray

it’s been a while since we had a new issue of our “photoblog.”Β  work has been toooooo taxing lately… and it has been eating away most of our time.Β  so much so that in the rare “free time” that we get, we’re just too exhausted to do anything else but just be at home and rest.Β  this obviously has been going on for quite a while now (see previous blog).

lately though, we did get to squeeze in a little spare time… and we decided to go out just to unwind (actually, we both needed haircuts kaya nagpa-gupit kami.Β  hehe).Β  while my wife, selle, was getting some pampering at david’s, i took the opportunity to surprise her and buy her something.Β  πŸ˜‰
